  • CITB Site Managers Safety Training Scheme (SMSTS) - 5 Day

    This course is aimed at Site Managers, Project Managers and other persons who are, or are about to, accept management responsibilities on site.

    The course covers all relevant legislation which is applicable in the construction and civil engineering industries. The course will enable the delegate to maintain a positive safety culture through the implementation of risk control measures and effective communication skills.

    By the end of the course the delegate will be able to implement all:

    • health, safety, welfare and environmental legislation which affects them during their daily work
    • industry best practice and any new guidance
    • their duties and responsibilities with regards to health, safety, welfare and the environment

    This course is aimed at candidates that have previously completed the CITB Site Managers Safety Training Scheme (SMSTS) course or a previous CITB Site Managers Safety Training Scheme Refresher (SMSTS-R) course and can provide proof of current certification.

    The course will bring the delegate up to date with any legislative changes and how these changes impact the workplace.

    By the end of the course the delegate will be able to implement all:

    • industry best practice and any new guidance
    • their duties and responsibilities with regards to health, safety, welfare and the environment

  • CITB Site Supervisors Safety Training Scheme (SSSTS) - 2 Day

    This course is intended for any employee who has, or is about to acquire, supervisory duties on site. The course will highlight the importance of effective supervision with regards to health, safety, welfare and the environment and provide the candidate with details on their legal responsibilities relevant to the work activities.

    By the end of the course the delegate will be able to:

    • Understand health and safety law and how it affects the supervisor role
    • Identify the management structure and how the supervisor role fits into this
    • Carry out risk assessment and understand the need for method statement
    • Carry out effective site induction, toolbox talks and method statement briefings
    • Monitor site activities and understand the importance of intervention when bad practice on site is identified

    This course is aimed at candidates who have previously attended the CITB Site Supervisors Safety Training Scheme (SSSTS) course and can provide proof of attendance. The course will bring the delegate up to date with any legislative changes and how they impact on the workplace.

    By the end of the course the delegate will be able to implement all:

    • updates to health, safety, welfare and environmental legislation which affects them during their daily work as a supervisor
    • industry best practice and any new guidance

  • CITB Health and Safety Awareness (HSA) - 1 Day

    This course is aimed at candidates who are or have just begun work in the construction industry. The candidate will be provided with a summary of health, safety, welfare and environmental issues and identify the candidates responsibility of looking after themselves and others and explains what the candidate should do if they believe anyone’s health and safety is being put at risk.

    By the end of the course the delegate will be able to:

    • understand the need to prevent accident
    • have a basic understanding of health and safety law
    • understand the need for risk assessment and method statement
    • understand the need to work safely and to stop and ask for advice when unsure
    • report unsafe acts to prevent an accident

    This course will allow the candidate to obtain the CSCS Green Labourer Card

    This course is aimed at those who manage others and manage risk and resource. The candidate will be given an understanding of everyone’s health and safety responsibilities in the workplace and allow managers and supervisors to recognise how they can influence, control and monitor risk to improve health and safety issues in the workplace.

    By the end of the course the delegate will be able to:

    • Describe the key reasons to manage health and safety in the workplace
    • Identify how the law can have an impact on safety and health in the workplace

    This course is aimed at anyone who is employed or is looking to be employed. The course aims to provide the candidate with how their actions contribute to work place health and safety.

    • Identify workplace hazards and risk, their impact and how to manage them

    This course can be delivered to various groups and is tailored to the exact make-up of the delegates.

    This course aims to provide the delegate with an understanding of their legal duties under the current Construction (Design & Management) Regulations 2015 and how to effectively discharge these duties.

  • Asbestos Awareness - ½ Day

    Every year thousands of people die because of exposure to asbestos. It was widely used by the construction industry right up until the year 2000. Our asbestos awareness training can help YOU avoid coming into contact with this deadly substance both at home and at work.

    The Control of Asbestos Regulations 2012 apply to employers, employees, self-employed persons and duty holders. The Regulations cover all work with asbestos containing materials. Regulation 10 of CAR states that every employer must ensure that adequate information, instruction and training is given to employees who are liable to be exposed to asbestos.

  • Work at Height Awareness - ½ Day

    The Work at Height Regulations 2005 require employers ensure that a suitable and sufficient risk assessment is carried out so that all potential work at height risks are effectively identified, controlled and managed.

    This course helps you to comply with the Work at Height Regulations 2005 by providing employees with the necessary information needed to be able to successfully deal with working at height risks and implement the necessary control measures.

  • Manual Handling - ½ Day

    This course is for any person who is involved in manual handling in the workplace. This course aims to improve manual handling techniques, identify how to move and handle loads safely and be able to conduct a personal manual handling risk assessment.

    Over 0.5million workers are suffering from Work Related Musculoskeletal Disorders. (HSE 2016 Statistics) By teaching your employees improved manual handling techniques you can reduce the cost of absenteeism and prevent against litigation if an employee is injured at work.

Please ensure that payment is received within 30 days of the invoice but certainly before the training course start date (unless payment during or after the event has been agreed beforehand). Your place of the course will become a confirmed booking once payment has been made. Until payment has been received a place may be reserved for you on the course, but it will not be a confirmed booking. The trainer reserves the right not to allow trainees onto the course if they do not have confirmed booking confirmation. CDM Scotland Ltd reserves the right to reschedule course dates at short notice if insufficient places are booked to be cost effective or adverse weather conditions which could prevent staff/instructors from arriving to the training venue. If you are unable to attend you need to inform us as soon as possible. The nearer the training event the more likely we are to incur fees (regardless of your attendance). We may also incur registration fees and we are less likely to be able to provide the place to another attendee. Therefore, our response will be determined by how much notice is given:

  • 1 month before the training date: no charge to transfer to an alternative date or a refund can be given minus 15% of the fee paid to cover administration.
  • 1 month to 10 days before the training date: no charge to transfer to an alternative date or a refund can be given minus 50% of the fee paid.
  • 3-9 days: a fee of 25% of the value of the booking will be levied if you would like to transfer to an alternative course (we will still be charged for the unused delegate space by the venue) and no refund will be given for a cancellation.
  • 2 days or less: no refund or transfer will be given

We understand and will exercise our statutory right to claim interest and compensation for debt recovery costs under the late payments legislation if we are not paid according to our credit terms of 30 days.
