Competent Person Service:

The Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1999 state that:
 
"Every employer shall appoint one or more competent persons to assist him in undertaking the measures he needs to take to comply with the requirements and prohibitions imposed upon him"
 
CDM Scotland Ltd can act as your appointed ‘competent person’ and provide you with a full safety support package. CDM Scotland Ltd can also provide an additional specialist back-up to your existing in-house safety person(s). 

Our service is structured around your requirements and provides comprehensive, on-going support by personal visits, advice and support via phone or e-mail.

Complete Health and Safety Service:

CDM Scotland Ltd can provide you with a comprehensive consultancy service, covering all your Health & Safety requirements. We can assist you in ensuring that you comply with all current legislative requirements in addition to identifying and implementing all neccessary policies and procedures that are necessary for the works you carry out.

Health and Safety System Auditing:
 
CDM Scotland Ltd can undertake a thorough audit of your organisation's health & safety system to identify any areas which need to be addressed in order to achieve compliance with health & safety legislation. We compile a detailed report covering all safety apsects of your business and we identify those areas which require improvement and provide you with specific information on how improvements can be made.  
 
We will work with you to ensure that all areas are addressed and corrective action taken. We pride ourselves on not finding faults but finding solutions which will benefit your organisation.

Risk Assessments and Reviews:

One of the most important tools in managing health and safety is risk assessment, the purpose of which is to determine and implement the control measures necessary to eliminate or reduce the risks associated with identified hazards. The five steps for risk assessment:

  • Hazard identification
  • Identify who might be harmed and how
  • Evaluation of Risk and identification of Control Measures
  • Record the findings
  • Review

Contractor Vetting and Auditing:

We have the ability to vet contractors to ensure you get the best service; we can also audit your contractors to make sure that you have the most up to date information on your contractors. We operate and actively manage an 'Approved Contractor Database' for a number of clients. We carry out an annual review of all approved contractors to ensure the information we have is up-to-date and the situation accurately reflects the information provided.
 
We can also carry out this service on a one-off or project specific basis.

Accident Investigation:

CDM Scotland Ltd can carry out a detailed and thorough accident investigation for any accidents which have occurred on your properties or sites under your control. An accident or incident investigation could provide you with valuable defence evidence should you need to defend your organisation in a criminal or civil court. A thorough investigation demonstrates a commitment to reducing the number of accidents and a proactive approach to safety management.

All accident and incident investigation is carried out by our team of experienced and trained safety advisors. Once an investigation is completed, we produce our initial findings and recommendations in addition a comprehensive report is then prepared. This includes all relevant information, witness statements, photographs, conclusions and recommendations to prevent a similar incident from happening again.

Training Needs Analysis:

CDM Scotland Ltd can analyse your needs in terms of construction related health & safety by highlighting areas of training which will enable your staff to become more competent in terms of dealing with health & safety related issues. We identify what training is required for each individual role within your organisation and compile a detailed action plan.
